To the Editor:

We have lived in Newtown for 12 years and have had the privilege of knowing Lillian Bittman for ten of those years. She has been a wonderful friend and neighbor to us while a role model, mentor and teacher for children. We strongly believe Lillian Bittman brings a unique blend of intelligence, integrity, and dedication to the Newtown Board of Education.

We have witnessed firsthand Lillian’s concern for student welfare and their educational progress. Her organizational skills, intellect, and perspective on education are evident each week as she voluntarily runs two school newspapers and teaches our children journalism skills.

Our neighbor, Lillian, has a vested interest in our school system. She has children in three different Newtown schools. She values the unique qualities of the Newtown schools and is dedicated to improving our students’ experience.

A conversation with Lillian reveals the exceptional energy, spirit, and intelligence needed to advocate for our children.

How fortunate we will be to have Lillian Bittman, whose resume proves her a unique fit on the Newtown Board of Education.
