To the Editor:

I am writing to The Bee today in support of the Independent Party of Newtown (IPN). In particular, Brendan Duffy who is running for Legislative Council in District 3, and for Po Murray who is running for Legislative Council in District 2.

I have known Brendan for two years, during which time I have found him to be a person of dedication and integrity. Brendan has an analytical mind and a very strong work ethic, which will serve him well on the Legislative Council. Brendan has always been naturally inquisitive about national, state, town and school issues and continually seeks discussion with friends and neighbors to evaluate pros and cons of various issues. In a short period of time, Brendan has gained significant knowledge of town matters. He is a team player and has worked diligently to help create the IPN platform. I am confident that Brendan and the IPN team will work hard to create positive changes for our town.

Po Murray has been a friend and a neighbor of mine ever since she moved into Newtown eight years ago. I have found Po’s understanding of town politics and her persistence over the past two to three years more than admirable. I commend Po for the hard work she’s put forth, and her dedication to making Newtown the best possible place for our children to grow and learn. Despite her busy personal life with her husband and four children, Po has selflessly given so much of her time pursuing ways to improve our town, for the good of all Newtown citizens. Po is action-oriented and has the ability to identify problems, set goals, and find solutions. Po is a not a “take no” kind of candidate, she will do the research, ask the right questions, and she will work hard to make things happen, but she needs your vote!

I fully support Brendan Duffy with his effort to win a seat on the Legislative Council in District 3 and I will be voting for Po Murray in District 2 on November 6. I urge all of District 3 and District 2 voters to do the same, and to support all the members of the Independent Party of Newtown.

Sincerely,

Joanne Amante
