Barbara Csuka Mastroianni

Generous With Time And Skills

Barbara Csuka Mastroianni, 71, of Stratford, beloved wife of Rudolph G. Mastroianni, died October 31 at Lord Chamberlain in Stratford, in the presence of her loving family. Born in Fairfield, she had been a Stratford resident for more than 50 years. She was the daughter of Mary Balint Csuka and Emil Csuka.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her loving daughters, Anne Mastroianni and her husband, Randy Dieckman, of Newtown and Mary Therien and her husband, Harry, of Stratford and granddaughters Lauren and Jennifer, and Natalie; and grandson, Benjamin. She is also survived by her brother, William and his wife, Eluned, of Lilburn, Ga.; a sister, Irene and her husband, Dr Ernest Barberio, of Palm Coast, Fla.; aunts, Irene Balint Chehy and Mary Csuka Kish of Fairfield; nieces and nephews, Cynthia Barberio of Palm Coast, Fla., David Csuka of Statham, Ga., Geraldine Sullivan and Margaret Bodnar of Fairfield; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Mrs Mastroianni was a graduate of Stratford High School. Her 45 years of employment began at Tilo Roofing in Stratford and ended with her retirement from the Able Co. in Milford in 1996. She was an active member and volunteer of the Baldwin Center Seniors, applying her accounting skills to help applicants for property tax and energy relief programs, and as a certified Medicare counselor. She was always there to help anyone in need and was generous with her time and her skills. She was always at her husband’s side in service to God’s special needs people of the Sister Margaret Mary Faith Club and the Kennedy Center.

She was an avid tennis player and duckpin bowler. Her sociability and competitive spirit will be missed by her friends and teammates of the Trumbull Racquet Club and Eisenhower and Longbrook Park tennis leagues, and of the Monday Seniors of the Baldwin Lanes.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 4, at 10 am, at St Mark Church, 600 Wigwam Lane, Stratford, with a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be private. Friends may call on Friday, November 3, from 4 to 8 pm, in the Adzima Funeral Home, 50 Paradise Green Place, Stratford.
