Clifford Alden Richardson

Life Member Of

Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire Company

Clifford Alden Richardson, 67, husband of Judith A. Hancox Richardson of Newtown, died October 28.

Born in Glen Ridge, N.J., July 8, 1939, the son of George A. and Helen Walsh Richardson, he lived in Newtown most of his life, graduated from Newtown High School, and attended Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and the University of Bridgeport. He was a customer operations specialist with Branson in Danbury until his retirement.

Mr Richardson was a life member of Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Co., serving as the company’s president, as its fire commissioner, and also as chairman of the Fire Commission for many years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Bradley A. Richardson; his daughter-in-law Kelly M. Richardson; and three granddaughters, Alicia Marie, Briana Leigh, and Kari Rae Richardson, all of Southbury. His son Gregory R. Richardson predeceased him.

He is also survived by his brother-in-law Robert V. Hancox and Diana J. King; sister-in-law Susan A. Goodrich and her husband, John; nephews Shane, Forrest, and Boden Anderson, Bryan Finch, Robert W., Robert G., Nicholas, David and William Hancox; an uncle, Gordon Walsh; and three cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to a scholarship set up in his late son’s name to the  Newtown Scholarship Association, PO Box 302, Newtown CT 06470, or to Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Co., PO Box 783, Sandy Hook CT 06482.
