Figurative Acrylic Demo

At Next SCAN Meeting

At the next meeting of The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (SCAN), Beverly Branch will offer a demonstration of painting with acrylics. Her subject will be figurative.

The program will be on Wednesday, November 8, at 7:30 pm. This demonstration is free of charge and will be at Newtown Meeting House, 31 Main Street (at the flagpole, in the building’s lower level).

Ms Branch has received much attention with her rich in color figurative contemporary     paintings. She is influenced by Degas, Cassatt and the 19th Century muralists. She paints women as timeless vessels of lyrical grace. Her sun-drenched subjects are often lush and earthy, yet speak of the divine. Kids having fun are a favorite subject of the artist’s.

Ms Branch resides in Bethel. She graduated from Paier College of Art in 1973. She was the recipient of the Urban Arts Initiative Grant by the Connecticut Commission for the Arts in 1999.

Recently she has participated in juried shows with SCAN and Mark Twain library in Redding.

She has also done commissioned work for Reader’s Digest Young Family book series, including Thumbelina and Nightingale in 2003 and is working on Proud Little Peacock for Reader’s Digest Kids series Little Animal Adventures.

She is currently showing work at Picture This Gallery in Westport and Mulqueen in Norwalk. She received an award from Danbury Hospice in their recent show.

Reservations are not needed, but additional information is available by calling 426-6654.
