Pietertje ‘Nellie’ Velthuizen

Former Sandy Hook Resident

Pietertje “Nellie” Velthuizen, 76, of Southbury, died October 27 at her home.  She was the wife of Gerrit Velthuizen. Mrs Velthuizen was born September 25, 1930, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, daughter of Henricus and Christina Hompert.

Mrs Velthuizen was a former resident of Sandy Hook, South Carolina, and Ohio, before moving to Southbury in 1991.

Besides her husband of 55 years, she leaves one daughter, Hermina Pressmer of Sandy Hook; one son, Henricus J Velthuizen of Southbury; one brother, Cornelis Hompert of Amsterdam, The Netherlands; and two grandchildren, Michael and Juli Pressmer of Sandy Hook.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing and shopping.

Services are private. There are no calling hours.   Arrangements are by Carpino Funeral Home, 750 Main Street South, Southbury.
