Amy Leigh Jones, 59, a friend of many and loved by family, died October 30. She was a resident of Colorado Springs since 1979. She was born October 26, 1955, in Battle Creek, Mich.

Her parents, Nancy and John Beckett of Danbury; brothers Jim Beckett of Newtown, Tom Beckett of Kent, Ohio, and John Beckett of New Milford; her daughters Rhea Neuberger of Fargo, N.D., and Kendra Shofter of Jacksonville, Fla.; and four grandchildren survive Ms Jones.

She graduated high school from Aurora, Ohio, and graduated Colorado University with her bachelor’s degree in social work. Her work life as a single mother with two children was in private business fields. Once she obtained her degree, she worked in social services.

Ms Jones's life was a struggle with juvenile diabetes. She had a kidney and pancreas transplant in 1993, and a second kidney transplant in 2006, donated by her loving friend, Susan Liggett. To have survived so long is a tribute to her courage and dedication to her favorite cause of 25 years, and its fellowship of loving friends.

A memorial service will take place at 4 pm, Saturday, November 8, at The Springs Funeral Services, 3115 East Platte Avenue, Colorado Springs, Colo.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution for the grandchildren’s education fund would be a loving gift. This can be made through the Springs Funeral Services online donation center at www.tsfs.com.
