Art At The Nature Center:

Architect Antonio Gaudi

WOODBURY — Flanders Nature Center’s “Art at The Nature Center Fall Series” will continue at Van Vleck Studio at Flanders on Friday, November 18. Alexander Purves will present a slide talk on “The Architecture of Antonio Gaudi.”

The architecture of Antonio Gaudi, Barcelona’s great visionary architect whose work has inspired generations of enthusiasts, dates from the late 19th and early 20th Century. His most famous building, the church of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, is still incomplete with construction ongoing and draws thousands of visitors daily.

The slide talk will look at a selection of Gaudi’s buildings and will suggest the relationship between the organic forms he developed, the craft tradition of Catalonia, and his commitment to structural logic.

Mr Purves of Washington Depot, is a watercolor artist, architect and teacher of design.

The talk is open to the public. Admission is $5.
