Main Street Halloween Canceled

According to Borough Warden Jim Gaston on Thursday, November 3, trick or treat activities in the borough, which was being tentatively considered for Saturday, November 5, have been canceled.

“Wires and trees are still down on properties, and they present safety hazards,” Mr Gaston said Thursday. “Also, given that about half the town still does not have power and restoration and road clearing continues, Halloween on Main Street would require us to take away too many town resources such as police.

“Private homeowners on Main Street are of course welcome to open their homes for trick-or-treating or Halloween events, but the formal Halloween on Main Street that attracts thousands of children is not feasible this year, unfortunately,” Mr Gaston continued.

“We Main Streeters promise to make Halloween the best ever next year,” he added.
