Western Connecticut Health Network Ball

To Honor Newtowners

DANBURY — Ten community leaders who were instrumental in the establishment of Western Connecticut Health Network — including Newtown residents Jay Lent, John Martocci and Joseph Skrzypczak — will be honored at this year’s benefit ball.

The Western Connecticut Health Network Ball, “An Evening in The Emerald City,” will take place Saturday, November 12, at The Amber Room Colonnade. While this will be the first annual network gala, this popular, black-tie event — boasting an attendance of more than 500 people in each of the past several years — has been hosted by Danbury Hospital for the past 52 years.

The ball will benefit both Danbury and New Milford Hospitals.

In 2010, Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital and their affiliates joined to become Western Connecticut Health Network, the region’s premier health care system. The Affiliation Task Force was responsible for this successful integration and smooth transition into a network dedicated to patient-centered care, teaching, and research.

The distinguished group of community leaders being recognized comprises a physician; current and retired corporate executives; and local entrepreneurs who have demonstrated leadership, integrity, and a commitment to the collaborative efforts that were required to bring this health network to fruition.

“Our success as a fully integrated network can only be attributed to the dedication, time, and expertise of the Affiliation Task Force. We owe a debt of gratitude to these exemplary community leaders,” said Dr John Murphy, president and CEO of Western Connecticut Health Network.

Ball attendees will enjoy dining, dancing, and entertainment. “An Evening at the Emerald City” begins with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres at 6:30 pm, followed by dinner at 8:30 and dancing until midnight. Tickets are $250 per person.

Patron, benefactor and other sponsorship opportunities are also available. For tickets and sponsorship opportunities, call the foundation office in Danbury at 203-739-7227 or in New Milford at 860-350-7345.
