Opportunities Fair — Amber Alert Saturday, November 6, from 10 am to 4 pm, at Newtown High School. Come and find out about all the different organizations, youth groups and services available for youth participation.

Entertainment Books 2005 are available once again. The cost is $22 and the book may be used right away. Call NYS to arrange your purchase.

Connection

“Risky Behaviors,” Tuesday, November 9, 7 to 9 pm, at NMS, featuring Joanna L Rosen, licensed clinical psychologist. For more information, visit Newtownparentconnection.org.

Hope and Support Group — If you are a parent with questions or concerns about your child’s possible or confirmed involvement with substances, you are invited to attend the Hope and Support group. This group meets Mondays from 7:30 to 9:30 pm in the Parents’ Corner. All are welcome.

Youth Programs

Super Sitters Course — The next course will be an accelerated program and run Tuesdays and Thursdays, December 7, 9, 14, 16, and 21 from 3:15 to 4:45 pm. The $40 fee includes all materials and a snack. Please call NYS to register.

HYSAB — A community service group, will meet on Monday, November 15, at 5:30 pm, at NYS. Meetings will now resume their Monday time slot.

MYSAB — A community service group — Next meeting date is Tuesday, November 9, from 2:15 to 3:15 pm. This group is open to all middle school-age students. Meeting days will alternate to accommodate students’ schedules. Please call NYS for further information.

NYCAAP — An AIDS awareness group for high school students will meet on Wednesdays at 7:30 pm.

Children of Divorce — Grades 1 through 6. Meets first and third Monday of the month. Next meetings will be November 15 from 6 to 7:15 pm. This is an interactive group using tools such as art therapy and games.

SibShops — Grades 1 through 6. Meets the last Monday of the month from 5 to 7 pm. Next meeting will be November 29 and is ongoing through May.

There is no fee for either Children of Divorce or SibShops.

All programs will take place at Newtown Youth Services, 10 Glen Road in Sandy Hook, unless noted. For further information, or to register, contact NYS at 270-4335.
