Jean E. Leavitt

Jean Elaine (Glavin) Leavitt, 72, of Lehigh Acres, Fla., formerly of Newtown, died October 31 in Danbury Hospital. Mrs Leavitt was the wife of Donald W. Leavitt.

Jean was the daughter of the late William and Ruth (Jenkins) Glavin. She was born in Concord, N.H., and was a Newtown resident for many years.

In addition to her husband of 51 years, she is survived by her five children, Gary Leavitt and his wife Carol of Bantam; Dianne Bartas and her husband Brian of Sharon, Mass.; Donna Klebe and her husband Chris of Wayne, Penn.; Pamela Rose and her husband Steve of Avon; Brian Leavitt of Woodbury; 14 grandchildren; three sisters, Mabel Stickney of Greenland, N.H., Ann Grobe of Plainfield, N.H., and Gerry Wing of Small Point, Maine; and many nieces and nephews.

Contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.

An open house celebrating Jean’s life will be held Saturday, November 6, from noon to 6 pm at the family’s home in Newtown.

Arrangements are by the Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown.
