Missing Main Street Trick-Or-Treater Quickly Found
While trick-or-treating with family members along Main Street on Halloween night, a 9-year-old boy briefly became separated from his family, prompting a police search which quickly turned up the missing youth unharmed.
The boy, whom police did not identify, apparently became separated from his parents for a few minutes while he was paying a visit to a family friend at a home on the lower end of Main Street, police said.
Police said they learned at 7:28 pm from a passerby that the boy was missing. Nine minutes later, the boy was located.
On Halloween night, police officers were positioned along the thoroughfare as a public safety measure, in view of the hundreds of costumed youths who walk from house to house there seeking trick-or-treat candy.
Missing children incidents are not unusual when large numbers of people gather for public events such as Halloween trick-or-treating and the annual Labor Day Parade, police said.  Â
