Old Case

Motorist Wendy Robertson, 38, of Naugatuck was stopped by police in Bridgeport for a motor vehicle violation on October 26, after which police there learned that she was wanted by Newtown police in connection with a 1999 case.

Newtown police then charged Robertson with second degree failure to appear in court and with driving without automotive insurance in connection with the 1999 incident.

After she posted $100 bail, Newtown police released Robertson for a November 9 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

DUI Charge

Police report they stopped motorist Kathleen Hurley, 40, of 12 Fairchild Drive on Castle Hill Road about 5:45 pm on October 29, for a speed violation.

After investigating, police charged Hurley with driving under the influence and traveling unreasonably fast. Police said Hurley had failed field sobriety testing.

Police released Hurley for a November 16 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Moving Violations

Police report they saw motorist Dennis Kimball, 30, of 99 Hanover Road towing a boat on a boat trailer on Route 25 that had no visible vehicle registration sticker, so they stopped Kimball to investigate.

An investigation discovered that the trailer was not registered, police said. Police charged Kimball with towing an unregistered vehicle and with driving while under suspension.

After he posted $100 bail, police released Kimball for a November 16 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Washington Avenue

Police said they used a radar speed-detection device to determine that motorist Robert Arnold, 33, of Southbury was driving 53 miles per hour in a 35-mph zone on Washington Avenue in Sandy Hook about 11 pm October 29, so they stopped Arnold to investigate, after which they charged Arnold with traveling unreasonably fast and with driving while under suspension.

Police released Arnold from custody for a November 16 court appearance to answer the charges.

Toddy Hill Road

At about 8:45 am October 30, police said they stopped motorist Manuel Neves, 45, of Huntington for not having a front marker plate on the vehicle that he was driving on Toddy Hill Road.

Police charged Neves with failure to display reflectivized marker plates and with driving while under suspension. After posting $100 bail, police released Neves for a November 16 appearance in Danbury Superior Court.

Valley View Vandalism

At about 12:10 am on October 31, a motorist was seen driving on and damaging a lawn at 5 Valley View Road, police said. The driver of the vehicle then attempted to flee from the area. The auto became damaged during the incident and lost some parts which belong to a late 1990’s Audi A-4, police said.

Police are investigating the vandalism and ask anyone with information on the matter to contact them at 426-5841.

Rollover Accident

Motorist Lorraine Davis, 16, of Brookfield was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Prizm northward near 59 Hawleyville Road about 6:23 pm October 30, when she lost control of the auto, struck curbing along the southbound road shoulder, rolled over and then hit a tree, police said. The auto came to rest on its roof.

Davis received a shoulder injury, after which the Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Corps transported her to Danbury Hospital for treatment, police said.

Police issued Davis an infraction ticket.

Nissan Into Guardrail

Motorist Patrick Kelly, 17, of Monroe was traveling eastward on Wasserman Way about 6 pm October 30, when he lost control of the 1997 Nissan Altima he was driving and struck some guardrailing, police said.

Kelly was not injured. Police issued him a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.

Ford Vs Dodge

Motorist Patricia Kurz, 52, of Southbury, who was driving a 1998 Dodge Ram pickup truck eastward on Route 302, near Route 25, about 4 pm October 28, slowed for another vehicle and was then struck from behind by eastbound motorist Charles Tooth, 18, of Waterbury, who was driving a 1995 Ford Explorer, police report.

There were no injuries, according to police. Police gave Tooth a written warning for following too closely.

Solara Slides

Motorist Joseph Lomenzo, 22, of Southbury was driving a 2001 Toyota Solara coupe southward on a wet and slippery Toddy Hill Road about 9:12 am October 30, when he attempted to negotiate a left curve in the road, but then slid off the road and became struck in some adjacent soil near 159 Toddy Hill Road, police said.

Lomenzo was not injured. Police gave him an infraction ticket for traveling too fast for conditions.

Dodge Vs Deer

Motorist Charles Parker, 37, of Anchorage, Alaska, who was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck northward near 38 Great Hill Road about 7:30 pm October 30, encountered a deer that had entered the road, after which he collided with it, police said.

The deer was injured. Parker was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Acura Collision

Motorist John Lewis, Jr, 18, of 301 South Main Street was driving a 1997 Acura Integra eastward on Mt Pleasant Road about 11:15 pm October 28, when he encountered a deer that had run into the road, police said. The Acura and the deer collided. Lewis was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

SUV Vs SUV

Motorist Arlene Miles, 35, of 7 Maple Drive, who was driving a 2003 GMC Envoy southward on Glen Road about 4:30 pm October 26, stopped and signaled to turn left into a driveway at 8 Glen Road and was then struck from behind by southbound motorist Edmond Halili, 41, of 118 Glen Road, who was driving a 2002 Mercedes-Benz ML-320, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Halili a written warning for following too closely.

Toyota Vs Volvo

Motorist Adrienne Lahoud, 41, of Danbury, who was driving a 2004 Volvo S-40 sedan northward on South Main Street, stopped at a red traffic signal at that road’s intersection with Wasserman Way at about 4:45 pm October 30, after which motorist Robbie Dubroff, 82, of 3 Shepard Hill Road, who was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry, stopped behind the Volvo, police said.

Dubroff became distracted and the Toyota rolled forward into the rear end of the Volvo, police said. There were no injuries. Police issued Dubroff a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Five MV Charges

Police said they saw motorist Gordon Young, 38, of Somers, N.Y., driving a 1993 Saturn SL-2 southward on Bancroft Road at about 6:30 pm October 29 and noticed that he did not have any illumination above his rear marker plate, so they stopped him to investigate.

Police charged Young with failure to illuminate a rear marker plate, misuse of marker plates, driving without automotive insurance, driving an unregistered vehicle, and driving without a license.

Police said Young is scheduled to appear in court on November 16 to answer those charges. Newtown police then turned over Young to Danbury police in connection with another matter.

I-84 Crash

Motorist Lindsey Murphy, 20, of Greenwich, who was driving a 1997 Dodge Caravan westward on Interstate 84, about 500 feet east of the Exit 10 off-ramp, at about 1:11 am October 25, changed lanes and lost control of the vehicle, striking some guardrailing along the left road shoulder, state police said.

Murphy was not injured. State police issued her an infraction for failure to drive in the proper lane.

Three Vehicles

Motorist Susan Alward, 50, of 19 Orchard Hill Road, who was driving a 1999 Honda Accord sedan, was traveling on eastbound Interstate 84’s Exit 11 on-ramp about 7:37 am November 1 and then attempted to enter the highway, state police said.

That action resulted in an accident involving the Honda and a 2001 Hyundai Elantra sedan driven by William Gillquist, Jr, 50, of Brookfield, and a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu sedan driven by Antone Matthews, 33, of Danbury, state police said.

There were no injuries. State police said Alward and Matthews were driving unregistered vehicles, and Gillquist made an unsafe lane change.

Highway Accident

Motorist Jennifer Knapp, 19, of Danbury, who was driving a 2001 Mercury Sable eastward on Interstate 84 between Exits 10 and 11 about 8:30 am November 1, was near a tractor-trailer truck that made an unsafe lane change, forcing her to swerve, state police said. Making that maneuver resulted in Knapp striking guardrails and a lightpost, state police said.

Knapp was not injured. The truck that made the unsafe lane was unidentified. State police are investigating.

Bad Checks

On November 2, Cosimo Fragomeni, 33, of 3545 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, turned himself over to police after learning that they held a warrant for his arrest.

Police said they charged Fragomeni with two counts of issuing a bad check in connection with checks that he had issued to a local plant nursery last June.

On June 22, Fragomeni issued a check for $2,480, and on June 25, he issued a check for $800, both of which were returned due to insufficient funds to cover the checks, police said.

After processing the arrest, police released Fragomeni on a promise to appear November 5 in Danbury Superior Court to answer the charges.

Dodgingtown Collision

Motorist Holly Roseboom, 23, of Waterbury, who was driving a 2002 Honda Civic eastward on Route 302 near Shelley Road in Dodgingtown about 9 am November 1, was struck from behind by a Chevrolet, police said.

The Chevrolet, which was driven by an unknown person, then fled the scene and was later found parked in a driveway on Baldwin Road, police said. Roseboom was not injured. Police said they are investigating the accident.

Church Hill Crash

Motorist Jeanine Vanlierop, 40, of Norwalk, who was driving a commercial 1995 Ford van westward on Church Hill Road about 5:55 pm November 2, was making a left turn onto Commerce Road, when a noncontact vehicle entered the intersection from a commercial driveway, causing the Ford to swerve to the left to avoid it, police said.

In making that maneuver, the Ford collided with a commercial 2003 Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by David Potter, 44, of Brookfield, which was stopped at a red traffic signal on Commerce Road, police said.

There were no injuries. Police issued Vanlierop a written warning for making an improper turn.
