St Rose Holds Clothing Drive
St Rose Holds Clothing Drive
During the last week of October, St Rose of Limaâs Social Concerns Committee and the Knights of Columbus conducted the annual St Rose winter clothing drive. This year they were also able to accept summer clothing for a Haitian relief program conducted by St Charles Borromeo in Bridgeport.
Parishioners brought clean, lightly used clothing to the Saturday and Sunday Masses, where it was collected in a 14-foot box truck. With great generosity, parishioners filled the truck to the roof. The clothes were then moved to and unloaded into the Parish Hall.
Throughout the week volunteers worked full days sorting and repackaging clothing to satisfy the needs of the social service organizations which they support. Finally, on the last Saturday of October, more St Rose volunteers arrived with vans, pickup trucks, and SUVs to load and deliver the clothing to a number of organizations in Danbury, Derby, Ansonia, and Bridgeport.
