To the Editor:

A quick word of thanks to you, the voters of Newtown for reelecting me to continue serving our community in the Connecticut House of Representatives. I appreciate the trust you've placed in me to do the right things for the town I love and our family proudly calls home.

Your greetings and warm wishes during the past couple months of campaigning are humbly appreciated. You have no idea how much your handshakes, waves, honked horns and words of encouragement mean to me.  You have made me feel personally blessed beyond any words I can find to express how wonderful you've made me feel.  It's an honor to serve you.

No doubt, we have a lot of work to do.  Locally, our Newtown leaders have a far better handle on things than those at the state level. Newtown is a shining star among Connecticut communities so, if you're feeling the pinch here (I know we feel it at the Bolinsky house), imagine how others, living in less well-managed towns, are feeling.  Like I said, we have much work to do at the state level.

The 2015 legislative session convenes on January 7, 2015.  I'm looking forward to doing your work.  Before then, let's talk, e-mail or use smoke signals to speak among ourselves.  Let me know your priorities for Newtown and our state.  Stop me in the store to say hi or give me a piece of your mind.  Invite me to your home or an organization's events.  Make time for us to have a thoughtful conversation about what matters to you.  We may not agree on everything but, it's important I know what you think.  You're the pulse of what makes it Nicer in Newtown.

It's an honor to be a Newtowner, serving Newtown.

Mitch Bolinsky

Representing Newtown's 106th House District

3 Wiley Lane, Newtown                    November 5, 2014
