Big Truck Vs Flagpole

Police report an accident involving a tractor-trailer truck and the Main Street flagpole.

Police said that trucker John Henry, 47, of Rolling Meadows, Del., was driving a tractor-trailer truck westward on Church Hill Road at about 11:54 am on October 13 and then attempted to make a left turn onto southbound Main Street, but in doing so the truck’s trailer struck the flagpole.

There were no injuries. Police report they verbally warned Henry for making a restricted turn.

Sand Hill Plaza

Police said that at about 1 pm on October 29, motorist Giulianna Marie Drew, 18, of 31 Pine Tree Hill Road, who was diving a 1996 Subaru Legacy station wagon, was backing out of a parking space at Sand Hill Plaza at 228 South Main Street, when the Subaru struck an unoccupied parked 2000 Nissan Altima sedan. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Two Offenders

Police report they encountered motorist Michael Tallman, 23, of Danbury at about 10:47 am on November 1 on Wasserman Way, near Trades Lane, where the vehicle that he had been driving was disabled.

After investigating, police charged Tallman with driving while under suspension.

Later that day, Earlisha Watson, 29, no address given, drove to the police station to provide bail money for Tallman’s release from custody, police said.

Police said they investigated and then charged Watson with driving while under suspension.

Police released Tallman on $500 bail and released Watson on a written promise to appear in court. Both are scheduled to appear in Danbury Superior Court on November 17.

Beers Boulevard

About 10:15 am on October 29, a low-speed collision occurred at a parking area along DG Beers Boulevard at Fairfield Hills, police said.

In that incident, motorist Francis Bauer, 53, of Bethel, who was driving a 2003 GMC Sierra pickup truck, struck a 2011 Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by Eileen Mitchell, 61, of Danbury, police said. There were no injuries.

Berkshire Road Crash

Police report that a three-vehicle accident occurred about 4:20 pm on October 27 on westbound Berkshire Road, near its intersection with Grays Plain Road and Bennetts Bridge Road.

Police said that motorist Gina DelLolio, 19, of Shelton, abruptly stopped her vehicle because a noncontact vehicle in front of her had come to an abrupt stop.

Motorist Brianna Wilkison, 20, of Oxford, then struck the rear end of DelLolio’s vehicle, police said.

Motorist Ashley Curtis, 17, of Seymour then struck the rear end of Wilkison’s vehicle, police said.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned all three motorists for following too closely.

Highway Accident

State police said that motorist Michael Mistretta, 28, of New Milford, who was driving a Ford Fusion auto, stopped at a stop sign at the end of the Exit 9 off-ramp for eastbound Interstate 84 at about 1 pm on November 1, after which the Ford was struck from behind by motorist Jacob Fahsbender, 40, of Danbury, who was driving a Mazda CX-5 SUV.

There were no injuries. Fahsbender received a written warning for following too closely, state police said.

Sideswipe Crash

State police report that at about 6:30 pm on October 28, trucker Marc Tellier, 53, of Deland, Fla., who was driving a 2016 Freightliner Cascadia truck on eastbound Interstate 84, west of Exit 9, while making a lane change sideswiped motorist Luigina Martin, 46, of Shelton, who was driving a 2013 Nissan Sentra.

There were no injuries. State police said they warned Tellier for making an improper lane change.

Out Of Control

At about 8:11 am on October 29, motorist Andriy Kovalchuk, 23, of Stamford, who was driving a 2002 BMW 325-I auto eastward on Interstate 84, about 200 feet east of the Exit 10 on-ramp, struck a 2008 Ford Fusion auto driven by Lindsey Malmborg, 30, of 108 Mt Pleasant Road, state police said.

Following the impact, both vehicles went out of control and traveled down a slope on the highway median, state police said. There were no injuries. State police issued Kovalchuk an infraction for speeding and for failure to maintain the proper lane.

Wet Conditions

Douglas Westgate, 36, of Fairhaven, Mass., was driving a 2016 Freightliner truck westward on Interstate 84 near the Exit 9 on-ramp at about 4 pm on October 28, when motorist Peter Mihok, 18, of 10 saw Mill Road, who was driving a 2002 Nissan Quest minivan, was merging onto the highway from the on-ramp amid bad weather conditions, state police said.

The Nissan then went out of control and was struck the Freightliner, after which the Nissan struck some guardrailing on the highway median, state police said.

There were no injuries. Mihok received an infraction for traveling too fast for conditions, state police said.

Jeep Vs Volvo

At about 11 am on October 26, motorist Andrew Woods, 65, of 25 Huntingtown Road, who was driving a 1996 Volvo 850 auto westward on Interstate 84, east of Exit 9, slowed for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by motorist Brendon Mahony, 26, of Southbury, who was driving a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee SUV, state police said.

There were no injuries. Mahony received a written warning for following too closely, according to state police.

Currituck Crash

Police said that at about 7 pm on October 30, motorist Peter Alagna, 70, of 55 Head O’ Meadow Road, who was driving a 2013 Honda CR-V SUV southward on Currituck Road near its intersection with Parmalee Hill Road, stopped abruptly for a deer on the roadway, after which southbound motorist Sebastian DeOliveira, 51, of 118 Currituck Road, who was driving a 2010 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck, struck the rear end of the Honda. There were no injuries.

The Honda did not strike the deer, which ran into the northbound lane, where it was then struck by a northbound vehicle, police said.

Police said they issued DeOliveira a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Mercury Vs Honda

Police report a two-vehicle collision at the entrance to the commuter parking lot on Wasserman Way, which is near Exit 11 of Interstate 84, at about 4 pm on October 29.

The accident involved motorist Thomas Sharpe, 27, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2008 Mercury Mariner SUV, and motorist Michael Roche, 23, of Valley View Road, who was driving a 2002 Honda Accord, police said.

There were no injuries. Police report they issued Sharpe a written warning for failure to grant the right of way. Police said they verbally warned Roche for passing in a no-passing zone.

Church Hill Collision

At about 6:30 pm on October 28, a two-vehicle collision occurred on Church Hill Road, near the Mobil gas station, police said.

Police said the accident involved motorist Joshua Kupec, 20, of Oxford, who was driving a 2010 Ford E-350 truck, and motorist Erin Doherty, 22, of Woodbury, who was driving a 2012 Honda Accord sedan,

There were no injuries. Kupec received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way, according to police.

VW Vs Subaru

Motorist Claudia Morris, 17, of 96 Hattertown Road, who was driving a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta westward on Church Hill Road near Interstate 84, struck the rear end of a westbound 2003 Subaru Outback driven by motorist Michael Maron, 25, of Hawthorne, N.Y., at about 7:36 pm on October 28, according to police.

There were no injuries. Morris received an infraction for following too closely, police report.

Pickup Vs SUV

Police report a two-vehicle accident about 7:40 pm on October 29 at the intersection of Wasserman Way and the Exit 11 ramps for Interstate 84.

That collision involved motorist Richard Boland, 20, of 55 Pole Bridge Road, who was driving a 1979 Ford Ranchero pickup truck, and motorist Kristine Erickson, 63, of Roxbury, who was driving a 2015 Mercedes-Benz ML-250 SUV, according to police.

There were no injuries. Police report they verbally warned Boland for failure to obey a traffic control signal.

Sandy Hook Accident

At about 7:40 am on October 29, motorist Susan Stosuy, 44, of Oxford, who was driving an unspecified vehicle, stopped on westbound Berkshire Road, near Jordan Hill Road, for a westbound school bus, police said. Motorist Karin Nicoll, 57, of Woodbridge, who was driving an unspecified vehicle, then struck the rear end of Stosuy’s vehicle, police report.

There were no injuries. Enforcement information was not listed.

Three-Vehicle Crash

Motorist James Duncan, 66, of Southbury, who was driving a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV eastward on Berkshire Road, near Paugussett Road, about 7 pm on October 30, stopped for traffic conditions, after which eastbound motorist Andre Kozel, 74, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2013 Ford Escape SUV, was stopping behind the Hyundai, police report.

Eastbound motorist Timothy Smith, 27, of Derby, who was driving a 2013 Ford Fusion, then struck the rear end of the Escape, pushing the Escape into the rear end of the Santa Fe, police said.

There were no injuries. Smith received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.

Intersection Impact

At about 5 pm on October 29, at a stop sign on northbound Key Rock Road at its intersection with Sugar Street, motorist Mayumi Deraney, 40, of 41 Eden Hill Road, who was driving a 2001 Buick Regal, struck the rear end of a 2014 Land Rover LR-2 SUV driven by Kellie Brown, 46, of Southbury, police report.

There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Deraney for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Rear-Ender

About 9:11 am on November 4, motorist Barbara Smart, 50, of 54 Toddy Hill Road, who was driving a 2012 Mercedes-Benz ML-350 SUV northward on South Main Street, stopped and was waiting to make a left turn into the driveway at 150 South Main Street, when northbound motorist Hako Basuljevic, 19, of Monroe, who was driving a 1996 Acura Integra, struck the rear end of the Mercedes, police report.

There were no injuries. Basuljevic received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, according to police.

Chevy Vs Mercedes

Police said Matthew Doyle, 32, of Southgate, Mich., who was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck which was hauling a trailer, stopped in the westbound left-turn-only lane on Church Hill Road near the Mobil gas station, after which westbound motorist Joseph Michael Struna, 67, of Danbury, who was driving a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-550 sedan, stopped behind the trailer.

The Chevrolet then backed up and its trailer struck the Mercedes, police said. There were no injuries. Police said that Doyle did unsafe backing, causing the collision.
