To the Editor:

As this election cycle comes to a close for town, state, and CT federal legislators and officials, the Newtown Republican Town Committee congratulates Mss. Hayes, Frampton, and Canfield and Messrs. Allie-Brennan, Bolinsky, Hwang, and Sredzinski. Best of success to you all. Our committee stands ready and would be pleased to assist in your future work.

Great recognition is also due to Messrs. Sullivan and Carter and Mss. Harriman-Stites and McCabe. It takes courage and fortitude to stand up and advocate for one’s ideals, especially as they are so personally and passionately held by fine candidates. We are all the better for your contributions.

Let’s take this rare moment, the culmination of tremendous effort to carefully and thoroughly articulate and constructively debate positions held on all sides, to find common ground amongst what may seem widely divergent opinions. In particular, let’s reflect on new ideas or existing issues that have been elevated in our collective consciousness and seek to incorporate them in our path forward. If we can do that, we will achieve even greater inclusivity and breadth of representation toward our common good.
