Mail Truck

Police said that at about 11:51 am on November 3, Paul Recine, 40, of Seymour, who was driving a 1987 Grumann US Mail delivery truck, stopped near 24 Toddy Hill Road to deliver some mail, after which the mail truck was hit from behind by motorist Alexci Piche Lopez, 43, of Sedro-Wolley, Wash., who was driving a 2001 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck.

Lopez reported pain after the accident, police said. Lopez received an infraction for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, police said.

Evading Responsibility

Police report a three-vehicle accident on eastbound Wasserman Way, near Exit 11 of Interstate 84, about 7:45 am on October 15.

In that chain-reaction crash, an unknown motorist, who was driving a silver/gray pickup truck with Connecticut marker plates, struck the rear end of a 2011 Toyota RAV-4 SUV driven by a Danbury woman, police said. That impact pushed the Toyota into the rear end of a 2011 Nissan Rogue SUV driven by a Brookfield woman, police said.

The pickup truck’s driver then drove away from the crash, heading eastward on Wasserman Way, police said.

Neither the Danbury woman nor the Brookfield woman were injured, police said. Police are investigating the incident and ask anyone with knowledge about who caused the crash to contact them at 203-426-5841.

Mile Hill Road

A two-vehicle accident occurred about 4 pm on October 29 on westbound Mile Hill Road, just east of its intersection with South Main Street, according to police.

Motorist Robert Jones, 59, of 19 Appleblossom Lane, who was driving a 2014 Honda Civic sedan, was waiting in a line of traffic for a traffic signal to change, police said.

Motorist Adelina Cazanga, 52, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2004 Volkswagen Passat sedan, was waiting behind the Honda, police said.

The Volkswagen then moved forward and struck the rear end of the Honda, police said. There were no injuries. Police said they verbally warned Cazanga for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Kia Vs Nissan

Police report a low-speed collision at a gas station at 47 Church Hill Road at about 1:30 pm on October 31.

In that incident, motorist Shannon Cassidy, 49, of New Milford, who was driving a 2013 Kia Rio sedan, backed into a 2013 Nissan Altima sedan driven by Patricia Mathison, 54, of 32 Bancroft Road, police said.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Corvette Crash

A two-vehicle low-speed collision occurred in a commercial parking lot at 30 Church Hill Road about 2 pm on October 31.

Police report that the accident involved motorist Kenneth Martin, 82, of 58 Walnut Tree Hill Road, who was driving a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe SUV, and motorist Stuart Slade, 62, of Brookfield, who was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Corvette convertible sports car.

There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Intersection

At about 6:10 pm on October 30, a two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of Hattertown Road and Castle Meadow Road, according to police.

The collision involved motorist Maria Vallejo, 45, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2001 Chrysler Town & Country minivan, and motorist Steven Klucik, 25, of 161 Huntingtown Road, who was driving a 2010 Honda Civic sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Vallejo received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way, police said.

Hawleyville Collision

State police said that on October 31, motorist Keith Hogenauer, 25, of 6 Georges Hill Road was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee SUV northward on Hawleyville Road, as motorist Edmund Dahlstrom, 78, of 3 Arrowhead Lane, who was driving a 2007 Subaru Legacy, was positioned at a stop sign at the end of the Exit 9 off-ramp for westbound Interstate 84.

The Subaru then pulled out onto Hawleyville Road, resulting in the Jeep and Subaru colliding, state police said.

There were no injuries. Dahlstrom received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way, state police said.

Ramp Accident

At about 6:36 pm on November 1, motorist Sean Magee, 45, of 2 St George Place, who was driving a 2005 Toyota Corolla sedan, was entering eastbound Interstate 84 via the Exit 10 on-ramp, when the vehicle hit some guardcabling, state police said.

Magee then fled the accident scene on foot, after which state police located Magee. There were no injuries.

State police said they issued Magee a misdemeanor summons, charging Magee with evading responsibility, traveling too fast for conditions, and failure to maintain the travel lane. Magee was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on November 10, state police said.

Pickup Vs SUV

At about 7:52 am on November 3, motorist Vincent Harrick, 35, of Beacon Falls, who was driving a 2010 Honda Fit SUV southward on Skidmore Lane, entered its intersection with Berkshire Road, after which he stopped for traffic conditions and was then struck from behind by motorist Karl Sieling, Jr, 23, of 2 Skidmore Lane, who was driving a 2005 Ford F-350 pickup truck, according to police.

There were no injuries. Sieling received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, according to police.

NHS Lot

Police report that at about 2 pm on October 28, motorist Christopher Dedios, 17, of 28 Wills Road, who was driving a 1997 Ford F-350 pickup truck in the parking lot at Newtown High School, struck a parked unoccupied 2010 Hyundai Elantra sedan. There were no injuries. Police took no enforcement.

Probation Violations

Police report that at about 1 am on November 5, while making routine security checks, they spotted a pickup truck parked on a dirt path at the rear of a commercial property at 27 Glen Road, so they investigated.

Police said they found Jillian Pratt, 24, of 44 Glen Road within the truck.

Police report that through an electronics records check, they learned that there were arrest warrants pending against Pratt.

Police said they charged Pratt with three counts of violation of probation. Police held Pratt on $7,500 bail for an arraignment on the charges later that day at Danbury Superior Court.

Botsford Collision

At about 5:46 pm on October 30, motorist Wayne Nelson, 41, of Bridgeport, who was driving a 2006 GMC pickup truck, struck a 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup truck driven by Robert Hardy, 42, of Monroe as the Dodge was making a left turn to enter the Plaza South shopping center at 266 South Main Street in Botsford, according to police.

There were no injuries. Police report they issued Nelson a written warning for failure to obey a traffic control signal.

Assault Charges

Following a physical altercation that was reported midday on November 3 in the area near King’s Restaurant on South Main Street, near its intersection with Buttonshop Road, police said they arrested two people, charging each with third-degree assault.

Police report they charged Jesse Vogt, 19, of Monroe and a person under age 18 with the crime. The incident involved four people, police said.

Vogt was released on $500 nonsurety bail and the juvenile was released on a written promise to appear in court. Both are scheduled for court appearances to answer the charges.

Police did not disclose the identity of the person under age 18 due to confidentiality laws.
