Sunday, November 9 – The Golden’s Bridge Hounds Fall Hunter Pace will be held Sunday, November 9, 9 am to 1 pm, at The Race Track on Baxter Road in North Salem, New York. Proper hunting attire and hard hats. Contact Heidi Sweet at 1-203-778-3003.

Horse Shows/Paces

 

Sunday, November 9 – The Woodbury FFA will host its annual Hunter Pace on Sunday, November 9,. The event is open to teams of riders and is designed to simulate a traditional foxhunt. All proceeds will benefit the Woodbury FFA, a national agricultural youth leadership organization associated with the Agri-Science program at Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury. There will be Hack (slower) and Hunt (faster) divisions that will be divided into junior and senior entries. Cost is $50 for seniors and $40 for juniors under 18. Special awards for Best Matched Pair, Turtle Team, Youngest Rider, Family Award, and highest-placing 4-H, FFA and Pony Club teams will be presented. Sunday, November 23 – Cricker Brook Farm in Monroe will hold a Schooling Show on Saturday, November 23. Classes will include Leadline, Walk/Trot, Beginner, Pleasure Hunter, Jumper and Equitation. High Point Trainer Award and Series High Point Award will be presented. For further information, call 268-6676.

Saturday, November 15 – Animals for Life in South Britain will be holding a public adoption of cats and kittens on Saturday, November 15, from 11 am to 3 pm, at the VFW Hall in Southbury. Cats and kittens of various sizes and ages are looking for permanent homes. Call 267-6777 for further information.

Seminars

Saturday, November 8 – Agility, one of the fastest growing canine sports for purebred dog owners, will be the subject of a two-hour seminar on Saturday, November 8, from 10 am to 12 noon, at Cassio Kennels, 173 Mount Pleasant Road. The seminar, entitled “Getting Started In Agility,” will be presented by Canine Training & Behavior Services, LLC. Nina Seturins, who teaches dog agility classes at the training center, will lead the seminar. This instructional “people only” seminar will be held indoors. Short videos of Seturins’ Beagles competing at the Novice level will be shown. The cost for the seminar will be $20 payable at the door. Advance registration is requested.
