Hsing-ay Hsu will be the guest pianist during both concerts, offering a dazzling presentation of Liszt’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E-flat. Ms Hsu was born in China, and trained on the piano from an early age. She studied at Juilliard and was a Soros scholar at Yale. The Washington Post has reviewed her performances as “full of power, authority and self-assurance.”

In a special program feature on Sunday, the program will also present storyteller Ellie Toy, who will read the Russian folk tale The Firebird, while the orchestra plays from Stravinsky’s suite. A family ticket for the Sunday concert will cost $35 and will admit parents and their children for one price. Older students interested in music can purchase student tickets at $5, but must present a valid student ID or be accompanied by parent or teacher for this rate.

Regular tickets are priced at $18, $35 and $45, and are available through the WSO office 203-574-4283.

The college and its art center are at 750 Chase Parkway in Waterbury; signs are posted from I-84 Exit 18. Additional information is available www.WaterburySymphony.org.
