An Amazing Afternoon

To the Editor:

I had the pleasure of being a volunteer this past summer at one of the Leaps of Faith Water Ski Club’s disabled water ski clinics. Although I arrived late in the morning, I was graciously invited to join the skiers and volunteers for lunch. Upon the start of the afternoon session, I got my first opportunity to be a “side” skier, helping to stabilize a skier as he/she made a deep water start. Once up to speed, you ski off to the side to allow the skier room to maneuver. I enjoyed it so much, I continued all afternoon, without taking the offered breaks. It was so rewarding, and a complete rush for me, to watch these skiers in action. They were completely in control of their own destiny, and loving it! I hope to be fortunate enough to be a volunteer in 2009.

As for the Lake Zoar Authority, they should be ashamed of themselves, as a group and individually, for trying to impose undue and unnecessary costs on Joel Zeisler and the Leaps of Faith Water Ski Club. The service that Mr Zeisler and his group provide to these skiers, with genuine unselfish pleasure, is amazing. Please let them continue without this unwarranted harassment.
