Hazardous Area

Police report yet another collision in a hazardous area on Church Hill Road known for its high accident rate at about 5:37 pm November 3.

Motorist Jose Moniz, 44, of Hanover Road was driving a 2008 Audi sedan eastward near 66 Church Hill Road in a right-turn-only lane in preparing to turn right onto the Exit 10 on-ramp for eastbound Interstate 84, police said.

At that time, motorist Patrick McNulty, 18, of Hilldale Drive was driving a 2005 Mazda sedan carrying four teenage passengers westward on Church Hill Road in preparing to turn left into the driveway entrance of the Blue Colony Diner, police said.

Police said that McNulty had told them that an eastbound noncontact vehicle in a straight-ahead lane had yielded to allow him to make a left turn.

As the Mazda was making the left turn, it collided with the Audi. There were no injuries.

Police issued McNulty a written warning for making a restricted turn and for failure to carry a driver’s license.
