Not Happy, But Proud To Be An American
Not Happy, But Proud
To Be An American
To the Editor:
The United States of America has once again peacefully elected another President of the United States and for that I am very proud. Our country has shown the world again that democracy works and peace is possible.
My choice was not Obama, and I have grave concerns with his agenda in moving America âforward,â but itâs his time and hopefully our country will move in the right direction.
However, Iâm very surprised that as Americans we have not all recoiled in fear of his blatant language of âspreading the wealth.â Heâs called Americans âselfishâ if we donât spread the wealth. That kind of language scares me as well. Arenât Americans the most nonselfish people on the face of the earth? We give more in aid out of our own personal pocket than any other country! How selfish is it for a person who instead of going home at night and flipping on the television, works long hours, builds a strong business that employs many people and then becomes financially free. How selfish can a person be for working and having a dream? Some peopleâs dream is to work for someone else and theyâre happy about that. I think itâs more selfish if a person gets into crazy debt, and then expects someone to bail them out. There is my fundamental difference with the new President.
Iâm also surprised that Americans are happy about electing someone who has no experience in politics. I wouldnât mind if I knew what this man was about, but all I know is that heâs consistently voted far left. Heâs maintained an extreme liberal record and weâre looking the other way. Oprah Winfrey brought him into the forefront and the liberal media flew with him. This man didnât have to work his way up the ranks; no, he got a free ride from the media straight to the Presidency. Yay us. He is a wonderful orator and I guess that means a lot to many.
Anyway, one thing Iâm very happy about is that finally the endless hate of Bush is now over. What a relief! Eight years of Bush bashing was awful and so divisive to our country, not only being unfair, and to me, entirely unpatriotic. At least the media can now focus on the love that the new party has now that they are in almost complete control. Itâs easy to be happy when things go your way.
Yes, not happy with our choice, but proud to be an American and I will stand by our President and support the USA. I wish our previous Republican President got the same respect.
