Love & Knishes Lunches Set

SOUTHBURY — All area seniors are invited to enjoy lunch and entertainment on Tuesdays during November at the Love & Knishes Lunch Program of the Federation-Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut. The programs take place in the social hall at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North.

The food is freshly prepared each week by Chef Nancy Stokes and features healthful, delicious menus. Lunch is served at noon and programs start at 1. The following programs are featured for this month:

On November 16, singer/songwriter Willie Nininger of Southbury returns for another lively concert. Nininger has played in clubs and concert halls across Europe and the United States and has a reputation as a great folk humorist and top flatpick guitarist.

On November 23, pianist Roger Young plays a diverse program of classical, jazz, and favorites from the past 100 years.

The November 30 program is “Winsome Wit and Wisdom” with storyteller Joyce Marie Rayno, who shares tales that are witty, inspirational, fun, and moving. Ms Rayno is a member of the Golden Girls Red Hat Brigade and encourages other interested Red Hat Society members to show up for her program in their red hats and purple outfits.

Lunch reservations should be made by Thursday for the next week. All programs are open to the public, and there is a suggested donation of $5.50 for seniors. To RSVP, call Debby Horowitz, Brownstein Jewish Family Service program director, at 267-3177, ext 105. Love & Knishes is sponsored by The Homesteads at Newtown, LLC.
