Police Charge Two Youths For Vandalism Spree

By Andrew Gorosko

Police have arrested two local youths on warrants, charging them with multiple crimes for their alleged participation in a vandalism spree at more than 20 private properties throughout town, which caused approximately $5,000 in damage in late May and early June.

On November 9, police arrested Glenn Andrasko, 18, of 7 Pilgrim Lane, and Christopher Yitts, 17, of 8 Prospect Drive.

Police Sergeant Aaron Bahamonde said more arrests are expected in the case.

Police patrol Officer Michael McGowan, aided by Officer Michael Edis, conducted a lengthy investigation that resulted in the arrests, said Sgt Bahamonde.

Police charged Andrasko with 15 counts of third degree criminal mischief, two counts of second degree criminal mischief, one count of first degree criminal mischief, plus reckless endangerment, making a false statement, and interfering with police.

Police charged Yitts with 18 counts of third degree criminal mischief, one count of second degree criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment.

Sgt Bahamonde said the vandals damaged and destroyed residential mailboxes, damaged and stole residential lightposts, and smashed automobile windows. The damage occurred on two successive nights.

Third degree criminal mischief involves less than $250 of property damage; second degree criminal mischief covers damage between $250 and $1,500; first degree criminal mischief involves damage exceeding $1,500.

Both Andrasko and Yitts posted $1,000 bail and are both scheduled to be arraigned on the criminal charges before a judge on November 30 in Danbury Superior Court, police said.
