WATERBURY â Any horse lovers and owners who wish to learn more about correct horse care will be happy to hear about the CEU courses in Equine Husbandry at Post University in Waterbury.
The courses can be taken in any order and are open to anyone interested â no pre-requisites are required. The course will run for eight weeks, three hours for one night per week in the evening and students can earn CEU credits.
The second unit in the program â Stable Management 1 â will start on Thursday, December 2, and run for three weeks and then resume on Thursday, January 6 and run through February 3. The classes run from 6:30 â 9:20 pm in the Drubner Center.
As many people know, it is fairly easy to find someone to teach you riding, but much harder to acquire the knowledge to keep a horse in top condition. This series of courses will address this need as they cover the necessary information horse owners require to take care of horses efficiently.
Stable Management 1 will have some practical components as it will cover various aspects of handling horses, correct grooming procedures, fit and care of saddlery, blankets, boots and bandages. It will also cover the evolution of the horse and how it affects the animal in modern times.
Other courses will be offered in Stable Management II, Equine Anatomy, Equine Health, and Horse Ownership during 2005.
To earn CEU credits the cost is $500; to audit the course, the cost is $350. To register or for more information, call the Equine Department at Post University at 1-203-596-4631 or e-mail CBaker@teikyopost.edu.
