Wheels Of Justice Tour

To Visit WestConn

DANBURY — Western Connecticut State University will host an event as part of the Wheels of Justice Tour, which promotes nonviolent education and action against war and occupation in Iraq and Palestine.

Participating will be members of Voices in The Wilderness, a group founded in 1996 that has campaigned to end economic and military warfare against the Iraqi people; The Palestine Right To Return Coalition, a non-partisan global democratic association of grassroots activists and organizational representatives concerned for the Palestinian refugees’ right of return to their homeland; The Middle East Children’s Alliance, whose programs emphasize the need to educate North Americans about the Middle East and US foreign policy, and which believes in insuring the human rights of all people in the region, especially the children; and affiliates of The International Solidarity Movement, a Palestinian-led movement of Palestinian and international activists working to raise awareness of the struffle for Palestinian freedom and an end to Israeli occupation through non-violent, direct action methods of resistance.

Members of these groups will speak about their first-hand experiences as aid workers and human shields in Palestine and Iraq.

The program will be on Monday, November 22, from 7 to 9 pm, in the WCSU Student Center, 181 White Street.

The event is being sponsored by the university’s Youth for Justice student group and is offered in partnership with the School of Arts and Sciences’ yearlong “The Future: Its Promises and Threats” series. Admission is free and open to the public.

For more information, contact the Elizabeth Dyer, the treasurer for the WCSU Youth & Justice Student Group, at Dyer004@student.wcsu.edu, or WestConn’s Office of Public Relations at 837-8486.
