*ZOX’s next local performance is this weekend. The cool band whose CD I’m wearing out but have yet to see perform live will be at Toad’s Place on November 12, sharing opening duties for the next SUBLIME show with The Limit. Tickets for this all-ages event are $10 in advance or $12 at the door. The show is open to all ages.

*THE LIZ McNICHOLL BAND is also playing close to home this weekend. They’ll be at Redding Roadhouse on Saturday night. Showtime is 9:30.

*HAT CITY BLUES BAND is still very much around, even though we haven’t heard too much recently from the band. The guys have been playing private shows and out-of-area events lately, but return to our area next weekend with a November 19 show at The Lodge, which is in the Southford section (out by Oxford) of Southbury.

The following night the band will be back at Redding Roadhouse.

*SIDESHOW will be at The Red Door Café in Watertown on November 19.

*Reminders for this weekend: KANSAS headlines tonight and tomorrow night (Friday and Saturday) at Mohegan Sun’s Wolf Den. Showtime is 8 pm both nights.

Also, after three decades in the music business, Little Feat continues to truck down the highway, now taking its Barnstormin’ Tour through the U.S. and Canada. They stop at Mohegan Sun on Sunday, November 14, for a 7 pm concert in the Wolf Den.

All of these are free shows – get there early if you want a seat.

Next weekend’s Wolf Den shows are THE DEREK TRUCKS BAND on Friday, November 19, and SAWYER BROWN on Saturday, the 20th. These are both 8 pm shows.

*For those who like to plan ahead: Toad’s Place in New Haven has added a January 8 concert by MOUNTAIN to its calendar. The band, along with RICK DERRINGER, will then be at Ridgefield Playhouse on January 15.

Until next week I’ll be seeing you… on the road.

Questions and comments should be sent to Shannon Hicks c/o The Newtown Bee, 5 Church Hill Road, Newtown, CT 06470, or shannon@thebee.com, or call the office at 426-3141.

Shows listed at club locations are for ages 21 and over unless specified.
