Children’s Events

*Steven Kellogg, Back For A Visit: Children’s author and illustrator extraordinaire (and former Newtown resident) Steven Kellogg will be returning on Saturday, November 20, at 1 pm, to talk about his latest children’s books – Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town, Jimmy’s Boa and The Bungee Jump Slam Dunk, Clorinda, and a treasury of Pinkerton stories just right for gift giving.

Mr Kellogg will give a brief presentation, after which he will happily sign books for his fans. Copies of the abovementioned titles as well as some old favorites will be available for purchase on the day of the program. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet this icon of children’s literature up close and personal.

Young Adults

*Scrabble Club will has begun, with informal play in the Young Adult area each Sunday afternoon between 1 and 5 pm.

All ages are invited to drop in and have some fun with this classic word game. Bring your own game set or borrow one of the ones available at the main desk.

Adult Programs

*Computer Classes: Dan Tannenbaum’s next computer class for beginners will be Saturday, November 20, from 9 am until noon. There is no charge, but reservations are requested; call the library.

*Foreign Film Series: The Middle of the World is a film about a family of seven journeying across the hinterlands of Brazil by bicycle. This is a touching and tender story which explores the courage of the human spirit.

In Portuguese with English subtitles, the film will be screened on Tuesday, November 23, at 7:30 pm.

*Intrepid Travelers: On Wednesday, November 30, Dr Milton and Wendy Clark, a/k/a The Intrepid Travelers, will continue their travelogue series with a talk about Ethiopia. Come view their award-winning photos and hear about some incredible adventures.

C.H. Booth Library, at 25 Main Street, can be reached at 426-4533. Winter hours have returned: The library is now open Monday through Thursday from 10 am to 8 pm, Friday from noon to 5 pm, Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm, and Sunday from 1 to 5 pm.
