Lessons In Moral Obligation
Lessons In Moral Obligation
To the Editor:
In response to Mr Vallely (Letter Hive, November 12), I confess that if we need lessons in moral obligation from the hierarchy of an organization that has, for decades, enabled and protected a bunch of child molesters, then we are in a deeper state of anomie than I had suspected. Do we also need lessons in business ethics from the boards of Enron, Worldcom, and Tyco?
I note that Mr Vallely asks for prayers âdaily to end legal abortion.â Apparently he doesnât object to illegal abortion. Or is his use of the word âlegalâ just another example of the sloppy thinking that permeates his letter? Surely it matters not to the Law Giver of âthe holy and infallible fifth commandmentâ whether the killing is sanctioned by the State.
