Police have arrested two more local men, bringing to four the number of those charged after they allegedly took part in a vandalism spree last spring that resulted in a total of approximately $5,000 in damage at more than 20 private properties across town.
Police said they charged James W. Riddle, 19, of 21 Lyrical Lane on a warrant on November 12 after finding him at Newtown Shopping Village at 6 Queen Street. Police said Riddle was the driver of a 1999 Honda CRV that the four men allegedly used for the vandalism spree in late May and early June. After arresting Riddle, police seized the Honda as evidence.
On November 10, police arrested Michael F. Morrison, 18, of 181 Berkshire Road on a warrant after he had turned himself over to them.
Police charged Riddle and Morrison each with 15 counts of third degree criminal mischief, two counts of second degree criminal mischief, one count of first degree criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, and sixth degree larceny.
On November 9, police had arrested Glenn Andrasko, 18, of 7 Pilgrim Lane, and Christopher Yitts, 17, of 8 Prospect Drive.
Police charged Andrasko with 15 counts of third degree criminal mischief, two counts of second degree criminal mischief, one count of first degree criminal mischief, plus reckless endangerment, making a false statement, and interfering with police.
Police charged Yitts with 18 counts of third degree criminal mischief, one count of second degree criminal mischief, and reckless endangerment.
The four men allegedly damaged and destroyed residential mailboxes, damaged and stole residential lightposts, and smashed automobile windows, police said. The damage occurred on two successive nights.
Each of the four men posted $1,000 bail after their arrests and were released for November 30 arraignments before a judge in Danbury Superior Court.
Police patrol Officer Michael McGowan, aided by Officer Michael Edis, conducted a lengthy investigation that resulted in the arrests.
