UMC Offers Disciple Bible Study
The Newtown United Methodist Church is offering an in-depth Bible study course beginning this Sunday, November 21, from 7 to 9:30 pm in the church library.
The Disciple Bible Study program is designed to develop strong Christian local churches through the in-depth study of scripture. Through Disciple, persons are strengthened in their faith and guided into service and ministry. Strong, biblically nourished leadership helps churches grow in vitality and Christian discipleship.
The course continues for 34 weeks and covers both the Old and New Testaments. A commitment of roughly one-half hour a day and a two and one-half hour meeting every Sunday evening will add up to a detailed review of approximately three-fourths of the entire Bible.
This course is open to the general public. The fee is $35, which covers the cost of a workbook and video series.
More information on the Disciple Bible Study program can be found at the website www.cokesbury.com then click âdiscipleâ in the left column.
A trained facilitator will lead the weekly small group discussion and review of videos of presentations by leading theologians. For more information, or to make a reservation to participate, call the United Methodist Church office at 426-9998.
