Wreath Festival To Present Dazzling Designs
RIDGEFIELD â Amid a dazzling decor, the Founders Hall Wreath Festival â set for the weekend of Saturday and Sunday, November 20-21 â will feature over 50 hand decorated holiday wreaths, each unique and available for purchase. The festival will be at Founders Hall in Ridgefield from 10 am until 4 pm each day.
A preview party will run on Friday, November 19, from 6:30 to 9:30 pm. Tickets are $40.
A silent auction will highlight the preview party with something for everyone: those with sports on the mind (a round of golf, baseball tickets, and more), those who prefer the theater (tickets in New York and Ridgefield), those who want to get away, those who like music (jazz at Lincoln Center and a basket of CDs), those who like dining (restaurant gift certificates and an in-home wine tasting) and for those who like the truly novel and unique (two tickets to the Explorer Gala, a opportunity to dine with explorers from all over the world and the universe.
Judging the wreaths will be the actor Giancarlo Esposito; John Howard Sanden, one of Americaâs leading portrait painters; and Steffi Jones, an artist and member of Ridgefield Guild of Artists.
Prizes will be awarded in four categories: Most Artistic, Best Use of Materials, Most Original and Best in Show. After the judging, which will be done prior to the preview party, the decorated wreaths may be purchased (but not taken until the festival closes at 4 pm Sunday).
In addition to the decorative wreaths, the festival will offer an ongoing demonstration, a small boutique, plus an arts and crafts area for the children.
From 2 to 4 pm, Tina Phillips will demonstrate the craft of floor cloth painting, which was among the first homemade coverings to grace American floors.
Founders Hall is a not for profit organization created the Couri and Goldstone families; it is supported solely by private philanthropy. The funds generated by the Wreath Festival will support the numerous programs offered at the center.
Founders Hall is at 193 Danbury Road (Route 35) in Ridgefield. For further information, call 203-431-7000.
