Veterans Day celebratory cheer was on display at Sandy Hook Elementary School on November 11, when the school hosted a car parade.

The event was held in place of its usual Veterans Day ceremony and breakfast for veterans. Due to the pandemic, students lined the main front walkway of the school, with Principal Dr Kathy Gombos reminding students to maintain social distancing protocols before the parade began. Some students held American flags, others held signs, and all were ready to cheer as cars drove by. All of the students and staff wore masks.

As the car parade began, students and staff began to cheer.

“Thank you so much,” one student said.

“Thank you for protecting our country!” another yelled enthusiastically.

“Happy Veterans Day!” another said, waving a flag in one hand.
