Nellis Sherwood Treadwell

Former President Homer C. Godfrey Company

Nellis Sherwood Treadwell, 90, of Ashlar Village, Wallingford, died November 18. A direct descendant of the early settlers of Fairfield, he was born in Southport and resided there until moving to Easton in 1956.

Predeceased by his first wife, Harriet Riker Treadwell, he is survived by his present wife, Miriam Slater Treadwell; a brother, Donald Treadwell of Newtown; a sister, Doris Merritt of Southport; three sons, Peter of Lyme, N.H., Gary of Redding, and Daniel of Derby, and their families; two step-sons, Daniel Slater of Foxboro, Mass., and Roy Slater of Somers and their families; two grandchildren, Gary J. Treadwell and Amy Treadwell, both of Newtown; and seven step-grandchildren.

Mr Treadwell was a former president of the Homer C. Godfrey Comapny of Bridgeport, and was employed there for 37 years until his retirement. During World War II he served for three years with the Fifth Air Force in Australia.

 He was a member of Ashlar-Aspetuck Lodge #142 A.F. & A.M., Easton and he was to be honored this spring with a 50-year pin.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 1, at 11 am at Ashlar Village, 70 Cheshire Road, Wallingford.
