To the Editor:

Each year FAITH food pantry supplies their clients with a complete Thanksgiving meal: turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, and a variety of canned and fresh vegetables. This event is a huge success due to the many organizations in our town as well as our generous residents.

A special thank you to Karin Halstead who has been organizing the fire fighters food drive for the past 19 years. Sandy Hook, Hawleyville, Botsford, Dodgingtown and Newtown Hook & Ladder fire companies not only collect the food, they sort it and deliver it to the food pantry.

This year we are pleased to report a total of 66 turkeys, 1 ham, 132 boxes of food and numerous gift cards.

We are grateful to the Knights of Columbus for their generous donation of pies and their help with distributing the Thanksgiving meals. None of this would be possible without the amazing residents of Newtown including our anonymous donor of turkeys. We appreciate your donations to the fire trucks as well as your donations online, purchases from Amazon, the items left in our donation boxes around town and the items left in our cart on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the pantry.

Everyone at FAITH Food Pantry would like to extend a special thank you to all of you for making Thanksgiving possible for many of our neighbors. It is such a special day when we pack up the cars of our clients with an abundant Thanksgiving meal. Thank you Newtown for making this event possible each year.
