Dr Marks Named Foundation Officer

Dr James Marks, son of Dr and Mrs Eugene Marks of Newtown, has been named senior vice president of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation in Trenton, N.J. The mission of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is to improve the health and health care of all Americans.

Previously Dr James Marks was director of the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta and assistant surgeon general.

Dr Marks is a member of the executive board of the American Public Health Association, serves as associate editor of the Maternal and Child Health Journal and is a consultant to the World Bank and World Health Organization.

Dr Marks is married and has two grown children. His wife Judi is retiring from the Dekalb County School district where she was a guidance counselor. Their daughter Amy, 27 is pursuing a medical residency in anesthesia at the University of Maryland; their son Adam is a junior in the school of medicine at the University of Wisconsin.
