Help Replace The Seats At Town Hall Theatre
Help Replace The Seats
At Town Hall Theatre
To the Editor:
Newtown is a beautiful New England town with a picturesque Main Street reminiscent of a Rockwell painting. One of the many architectural gems on Main Street is the Edmond Town Hall. The Edmond Town Hall Theatre, in particular, reflects the rich history of our town and continues to provide a cultural venue for our community in the form of dance performances, musical recitals, and a daily schedule of interesting and entertaining movies.
The theater has been operational since 1930. If you have been to the theater recently you will quickly notice that the main floor seats need to be replaced and the balcony seats need to be repaired. To do so will require private funds. Given that next year marks the 300th anniversary of our town, many groups are taking on Tercentennial projects to benefit the town. The Lions Club of Newtown has decided to focus its Tercentennial efforts on finding funding sources to replace the 411 seats on the main floor of the theater.
Each seat will cost approximately $300. For each person, family, organization, or business that donates $300 toward the purchase of one seat, the Lions Club will install a plaque on the seat memorializing the name of the donor. Your contribution will help improve the beauty of this historic town facility and will serve as a source of pride each time you visit the theater. I hope you will join me in contributing toward the purchase of new seats for the Edmond Town Hall Theatre.
Sincerely,
