Ninety Years, And Going Strong
Ninety Years, And Going Strong
Ginny Lathrop always loves a great party, so reaching the age of 90 seemed a good excuse to throw one. And that is just what she did last Saturday night at the Stony Hill Inn, inviting about 100Â guests to dinner and dancing to the music of the Kenny Lee Orchestra.
The program took the form of a âroast,â and some members of the head table seized the opportunity to tell a few tales and reminisce about the guest of honor. Speakers included Joe Engleberger, Bob Grossman, Mae Schimdtle, Irene Schwartz, R. Scudder Smith, and Jerry DeLucia. Also at the head table was First Selectman Herb Rosenthal who presented Ginny with a proclamation from the town, marking her 50-plus years of teaching dancing to the young and old of Newtown.
âIt was my party and I had a great time,â Ginny said as the evening ended. âLetâs do it again, but this time I am not going to wait another ten years,â she added.
