Programs For Parents

POSITIVE PARENTING PROGRAMS – Our next round of programs will begin after the new year. We offer both morning and evening sessions. Also, if you would like to host a 5-week group in your home, a staff member would be happy to arrange this with you. This is a great way for neighbors to get to know one another. “Welcome to The Teen Zone” will also be offered. Any questions, please call Roseanne Loring at 270-4335.

FATHER’S NIGHT –  No meeting in December! Jeff Steinberg will resume this popular series on Monday, January 10  from 7:30 to 9 pm in the Parents’ Corner. Fathers only, please! No fee.

Community Programs

CAROLINE’S GIFT – In the spirit of giving, at this time of year, Youth Services would like to remind families of Caroline’s Gift. This fund was established in 1996 by friends and family of Rachel Basch and David Gould in memory of their stillborn daughter, Caroline Basch Gould. The fund’s charitable purpose is to assist the families of ill or disabled children in Newtown.

Newtown Youth Services helps administer Caroline’s Gift and identify its recipients. Anyone wishing to help the fund provide aid to families in need may send a donation to Newtown Youth Services, 41A Main Street, Newtown, CT 06470. Please make checks out to “Newtown Youth Services – Caroline’s Gift.” We thank you for your generosity.

Youth Group Meetings

The High School Youth Advisory Board (YAB) will meet on Monday, January 31, at 6:30 pm at Youth Services.  Anyone interested in joining, please call the office or see Erin Lewis or Jessica Tendler at NHS.

NYCAAP meets every week alternating Mondays and Tuesdays at 5:30 pm. The next meeting is Monday, December 6 at NYS. Call the office or see Jessica Clark or Katie Hayes for details.

The Middle School Youth Advisory Board (MS YAB) will meet on Wednesday, December 8 and Wednesday, December 15 in the Middle School Cafeteria from 3:45 to 4:45 pm. Continued holiday projects, our adoptive family needs, and a holiday party will be on the agendas for those dates.

Entertainment Books

The holidays are fast approaching and, once again, NYS makes these handy books available at $30 each. They make great gifts and contain discounts for area restaurants, videos, movie tickets, dry cleaning, etc. It’s a great way to support Newtown Youth Services. Please call 270-4335 to reserve your copy.

All programs will take place at Newtown Youth Services, 41-A Main Street (next to Town Hall), unless noted. For further information on any of the above programs, please call Newtown Youth Services at 270-4335.
