DUI Arrest

About 10:20 pm on November 21, police arrested Dexter Munger, 73, of 36 Taunton Lake Drive on charges of driving under the influence, disobeying a police officer’s signal to stop, failure to drive in the established lane, and making a restricted turn.

Police said that as they were conducting a nighttime safety belt spot check on Main Street, Munger drove by the spot check at high speed. Police said they signaled for Munger to stop, but he kept driving. After Munger was stopped on Mt Pleasant Road, he failed field sobriety testing and was arrested, police said.

Munger was later released on $100 bail for a December 5 court appearance.

Bicycle Found

Police report that an adult-size mountain bike was found in the area of Walnut Tree Hill Road in Sandy Hook. Police are holding the bicycle for safekeeping. To claim the bike, the owner should contact Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841.

South Main Collision

Police report a two-car accident on South Main Street, at its intersection with Mile Hill Road about 5:11 pm November 20.

Northbound motorist Artur Godlleski, 22, of Bethel, who was driving a 1996 Mitsubishi sedan, was waiting at a red traffic signal, when he was struck from behind by northbound motorist Roxane Greenley, 53, of Buttonball Drive, who was driving a 1991 Oldsmobile sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Greenley received an infraction ticket for traveling at an unsafe distance.

Volkswagen

Motorist Natividade Gomes, 33, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2001 Volkswagen sedan southward near 201 South Main Street about 5:48 pm November 21, encountered a deer that had entered the road, police said.

The auto and the deer collided, after which the deer left the area. Gomes was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Main Street Crash

A two-vehicle accident occurred in front of the police station at 3 Main Street about 8:49 am November 14.

Northbound motorist Susan Randel, 46, of New Milord, who was driving a 2005 Subaru Forester, slowed to allow another motorist to make a turn, police said. Northbound motorist Sandra Peterson, 44, of 41 Mile Hill Road South, who was driving a 2002 Kia Sedona van, then drove into the rear end of the Subaru, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Peterson for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Van Hits Building

Motorist John-Rafael Heath, 19, of Bridgewater, who was driving a 1995 Chevrolet van eastward on Church Hill Road about 5:11 pm November 16, made a left turn onto The Boulevard, police report.

Heath then lost control of the van, crossed The Boulevard, went off the left side of the road and struck a building’s foundation, police said. The building at 33 Church Hill Road is a former home that now serves as an office building.

Heath was not injured. Police issued him an infraction for making a restricted turn and for failure to carry a driver’s license.

Jewelry Found

At about 8 am November 20, a gold ring was found at Dodgingtown Market at 57 Dodgingtown Road, police report. Police are holding the ring for safekeeping. The owner should contact Sergeant Darlene Froehlich at the police station at 3 Main Street, telephone 426-5841, to claim the ring.

Lexus Vs Honda

A two-car collision occurred at the Main Street flagpole about 2:30 pm November 8, according to police.

Motorist Judith Massey, 53, of Huntington was driving a 2006 Lexus ES-330 westward on Church Hill Road, as motorist Omar Vasquez, 24, of Danbury was driving a 1998 Honda Civic northward on Main Street, according to police. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.

There were no injuries. Police gave Massey a written warning for failure to obey a stop sign.

Pickup Vs SUV

Police report that at about 9:15 am on November 2, a pickup truck and a sport-utility vehicle collided at the hazardous intersection of Hawleyville Road, Currituck Road, and Obtuse Road.

Motorist Richard Houle, 38, of Naugatuck, who was driving a 1993 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck northward on Currituck Road, was making a left turn onto southbound Hawleyville Road, as motorist David Villareal, 18, of 19 Currituck Road, who was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer, was making a left turn from southbound Hawleyville Road onto southbound Currituck Road, police said.

The vehicles collided in the intersection. No injuries were reported. Houle received an infraction for failure to grant the right of way.

 

DUI Arrest

After receiving a call about 4 am November 23, police went to the Pebble Road area to investigate a motor vehicle complaint. Police said they observed motorist Ian Patrick Moran, 21, of 59 Queen Street driving a vehicle on Pebble Road, after which they investigated.

Police charged Moran with driving under the influence, after which he was released on $100 bail for a December 6 court appearance.

Burglary/Larceny

 On November 18, police arrested Ryan Southard, 25, of Monroe on a warrant, charging him with third degree larceny and third degree burglary.

Police said the arrest stems from an August incident in which Southard allegedly stole various power tools valued at $3,250 from a detached garage at a South Main Street property.

Southard is the second person charged in connection with that crime. After posting $10,000 bail, police released Southard for a December 5 court appearance.

Fairfield Man

While they were conducting a safety belt spot check on Church Hill Road about 8:15 pm November 24, motorist Andrew Gibson, 29, of Fairfield entered the spot check area in a vehicle that bore no front marker plate, police said.

Police charged Gibson with failure to display a marker plate and with driving with a suspended license.

Gibson was released from police custody after signing a written promise to appear December 5 in Danbury Superior Court.

Route 25

Police report they stopped motorist Bryan Lacouture, 19, of 43 Copper Creek Circle for having a defective headlamp on Route 25 at about 10:45 pm on November 24.

After investigating, police charged Lacouture with a headlamp violation, driving with a suspended vehicle registration, driving without automotive insurance, and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.

Lacouture was released on a written promise to appear in court on December 12.

MV Charges

About 10:14 pm November 26, police stopped motorist Joshua White 28, of Groton on Church Hill Road because his rear marker plate was not illuminated.

Following an investigation, police charged White with failure to illuminate a rear marker plate and with driving with a suspended license.

Following processing, police released White on his written promise to appear December 8 in Danbury Superior Court.

MV Violations

About 11:45 pm November 24, police saw motorist Karyn Anderson, 21, of 4 Meadowbrook Road driving a vehicle in Sandy Hook that had a defective headlamp, so they stopped her on Toddy Hill Road to investigate.

Police charged Anderson with a headlamp violation, driving under suspension, and driving with a suspended vehicle registration. Police released her on a promise to appear in court on December 12.

BMW Into Gully

Police report that motorist Bryan Walsh, 19, of 7 Farm Field Ridge Road, who was driving a 1994 BMW 325-IS northward on Key Rock Road about 12:30 am November 19, told them that he encountered a deer in the roadway, so he swerved to the right to avoid a collision.

But in making the avoidance maneuver, Walsh lost control of the auto, went off the right side of the road, struck a tree and then hit some rocks, after which the vehicle rolled backward into a gully, police said. Walsh was not injured, police said.

Police issued him an infraction ticket for making a restricted turn.

Mt Pleasant Road

About 2 pm November 25, police spotted motorist Michael Frischkorn, 46, of New Milford following a another vehicle at an unsafe distance on Mt Pleasant Road, so they stopped Frischkorn to investigate.

Police charged Frischkorn with failure to drive a reasonable distance apart, driving while under suspension, and driving an unregistered vehicle. After processing the case, police released Frischkorn on $50 bail for a December 12 court appearance.

Subaru Vs Subaru

An accident involving two motorists driving Subaru autos took place on Sugar Street about 2:26 pm November 22, police said.

In the incident, eastbound motorist Thomas Pellicano, 47, of Southbury, who was driving a 2003 Subaru Legacy station wagon, slowed for traffic conditions, after which he was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Stephen Barone, 35, of Seymour, who was driving a 2002 Subaru Impreza sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Barone received a written warning for failure to drive a reasonable distance apart.

Mitsubishi Hits Guardrails

Motorist Jennifer Berman, 32, of Milford, who was driving a 1999 Mitsubishi sedan on Wasserman Way about 4 pm November 23, was negotiating a curve to the left, when the auto went out of control and struck some guardrailing along the right road shoulder, police said. Berman was not injured. Police issued Berman a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Lakeview Terrace

Police report a one-car accident at the intersection of Lakeview Terrace and Lakeview Terrace Extension at about 11 pm November 24.

Police said a 17-year-old boy was driving a 1986 Oldsmobile sedan southward on Lakeview Terrace, when he lost control of the vehicle, drove off the road and collided with a utility pole. The boy was not injured.

A passing motorist noticed the accident after it had occurred and contacted police. The boy had left the scene of the crash before police arrived to investigate.

Police said the accident is under investigation and enforcement action is pending.

Because the boy is under age 18, he is considered a youthful offender, with his identity shielded from public disclosure, according to police.

Church Hill Crash

About 8:12 pm November 24, motorist Nicholas Piperis, 79, of 72 Elizabeth Circle, who was driving a 1990 Honda sedan westward near 94 Church Hill Road, moved toward the right side of the road as an eastbound noncontact vehicle approached, police said.

In moving to the right, the Honda struck a legally parked, unoccupied 2001 Volvo station wagon, police said.

Piperis was not injured. Sandy Hook firefighters responded to clean up spilled automotive fluids. Police issued Piperis a written warning for improper passing.

Sandy Hook Incident

Police report a domestic incident in Sandy Hook Center on the night of November 22 in which two people were charged with offenses.

Police said Michael Daubert, 42, of 107 Church Hill Road, and Julie Bondi, 43, of Carmel, N.Y., were involved in a physical altercation at 107 Church Hill Road at about 11:45 pm. During the incident, an 8-year-old boy was pushed into a door by Daubert, resulting in the boy receiving a minor arm injury, police said.

Police charged Daubert with disorderly conduct and with risk of injury to a minor. He was released on $1,000 bail for a November 24 court appearance.

Police charged Bondi with disorderly conduct. She was released on a written promise to appear in court on November 24.

Sports Car Crash

About 12:30 am on November 28, motorist Jason Doorly, 28, of Bethel was driving a 2003 Nissan 350-Z westward on Mt Pleasant Road, when while negotiating a corner, he lost control of the sports car, police said.

The auto skidded, hit a traffic island and then struck several mailboxes, after which it came to rest in a ditch, police said.

Doorly reported back pain but refused medical attention, according to police. Police issued him an infraction ticket for traveling too fast.

Parmalee Hill MVA

About 3:40 pm November 16, motorist Richard Temple, 18, of 197 Walnut Tree Hill Road was driving a 2000 Volvo S-70 sedan northward on a wet Parmalee Hill Road, when after negotiating a curve in the road, he lost control of the auto, police said. The Volvo veered onto the southbound road shoulder, struck a small tree and then came to rest on a large tree at 25 Parmalee Hill Road, police said.

Neither Temple, nor three passengers in the Volvo, were injured, police report. Police said they issued Temple an infraction ticket.

Volkswagen Vs Rock

Motorist Jennifer Peters, 28, of Woodbury was driving a 2003 Volkswagen Golf sedan northward on Mile Hill Road South about 1:20 pm November 15, when Peters saw a rock in the road that she could not avoid striking, police said. The collision caused a substantial motor oil leak of from the auto, police said. 

Honda Vs Scion

Police report an accident at the Main Street flagpole in rainy conditions about 8:45 am November 14.

The collision involved motorist Amanda Dwinells, 20, of Guilford, who was driving a 2006 Scion TC sedan, and motorist Sidaka Choau, 25, of Bethel, who was driving a 2003 Honda Civic sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Choau received a written warning for failure to grant the right of way.

VW Vs VW

Police report an accident involving two Volkswagens at the intersection of Berkshire Road and Pole Bridge Road about 9 am November 22.

Motorist Deborah DeLollis, 59, of 3 Far Horizon Drive, who was driving a 2004 Volkswagen Touareg eastward on Berkshire Road, was stopped and waiting for westbound traffic to clear so that she could turn left onto Pole Bridge Road, when the Touareg was struck from behind by eastbound motorist Sean Raby, 24, of 69 Berkshire Road, who was driving a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta, police said.

There were no injuries. Raby received an infraction for following too closely.

Longview Terrace

About 9:50 am November 15, town employee Jeffrey Thomas, 32, of Southbury was driving a town-owned 1988 Dresser road grader southward on Longview Terrace while doing road maintenance work there, police said. The grader struck a properly parked, unoccupied 1999 Dodge sedan, police said.

There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Thomas for making a restricted turn.

Main Street Collision

About noon on November 4, motorist Ernestine Dillon, 78, of 110 Haley Lane, who was driving a 2005 Chrysler Sebring sedan northward on Main Street, drifted to the right and struck a parked, unoccupied 1994 Nissan pickup truck, which positioned along the northbound road shoulder at 32 Main Street, police said. There were no injuries. Police verbally warned Dillon.

Pontiac Off Road

About 4:38 am November 29, motorist Marylue Selavka, 48, of Trumbull, who was driving a 2003 Pontiac station wagon southward near 361 South Main Street, braked and then slid on the roadway, went off the right road shoulder, climbed an embankment, and then did a complete roll with the vehicle, with it landing on its wheels in the southbound lane, police report.

Botsford firefighters went to the scene. Ambulance volunteers transported Selavka to Danbury Hospital for an evaluation. Police issued her a written warning for making a restricted turn.

Sandy Hook Crash

Police report a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Route 34 and Bennetts Bridge Road about 11 pm November 22.

The crash involved motorist Andrew Kmetetz, 18, of 46 Old Green Road, who was driving a 1996 Toyota sedan, and Angelo Norman, 39, of North Haven, who was driving a 2001 Chrysler station wagon, according to police. Kmetetz received an infraction ticket for failure to grant the right of way.

Chrysler Vs Deer

Motorist Cynthia Holmes, 53, of Trumbull was driving a 1999 Chrysler station wagon northward on Route 25 about 5:46 pm November 28, when the vehicle collided with a deer that had entered the road, police said. Holmes was not injured. Police took no enforcement.

Mt Pleasant Accident

Motorist Laura Gardner, 26, of 9 Taunton Ridge Road was driving a 2001 GMC Jimmy sport-utility vehicle northward near 110 Mt Pleasant Road about 11:14 pm November 16, when the vehicle swerved to the right and struck an embankment along the road shoulder, police said this week.

The GMC rolled and also rotated, striking a utility pole, police said. The vehicle came to rest on its driver’s side, requiring that Gardner be extricated from the wreckage, police said. Hawleyville and Hook & Ladder firefighters responded to the incident.

Ambulance volunteers transported Gardner to Danbury Hospital for a medical evaluation, police report. The accident is under investigation.

Toyota Into Tree

About 6:45 am November 29, motorist Miryan Morocho, 38, of Danbury, who was driving a 1991 Toyota pickup truck southward on South Main Street, lost control of the vehicle on the wet roadway, went off the right road shoulder, climbed an embankment and struck a small tree, police said.

Morocho was not injured. Police said that she was traveling too fast for conditions.

Foggy Night

Motorist William Presti, 59, of Bethel was driving a 2007 Hyundai Accent northward on Sweet Meadow Road in heavy fog about 4 am November 29, when he drove past a stop sign, crossed Sugar Hill Road and struck a rock wall, becoming hung up on it, police said.

Presti was not injured. Police said he violated a stop sign.
