Freshman Net Girls

A strong freshman volleyball team offers more hope for a stronger future. The Newtown High School freshman volleyball team finished 8-2, led by captains Karen Narayanan and Lauren Powers. Setter Nicole Escada was solid behind the service line, recording 43 aces and six kills. Sarah Ferris had eight kill and 18 service aces as Hannah DeFlumeri had nine kills and 11 service aces. Ashley Ceech (12 service aces), Jana Wutzke (nine aces), Teagen Estores (eight kills, 11 aces), Anna Chamiee-Puento (nine aces) and Katie Holroyd all played well. The team also included Emily Bernson and managers David Hajzer, Steve Oberstadt and Cynthia Reynolds and was coached by Russ Weiss.
