More Care For Local Troops

The Lions Club of Newtown recently sent off ten care packages destined for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

“The sending of these packages is the club’s way of saying Thank You to all of these brave individuals who are serving all of us in Newtown and the entire country,” said Lions Club member Wayland Johnson. Most items in the care packages have been requested by the troops, added Mr Johnson.

“There may be a couple of surprises,” he said. “At least it is hoped they are surprised.”

The Lions will do another care package mailing after January 1. Any Newtown resident who has information of an active duty troop related to Newtown who is not receiving a care package from the Newtown Lions is asked to contact Mr Johnson at 426-5418.  In addition to the care packages, each active duty troop in the Middle East receives The Newtown Bee courtesy of the publisher.
