The new book has another local tie: Newtown resident and artist Brigette Sorensen did the artwork that graces the new bookâs cover.
McMansion, the fourth installment of Mr Scottâs series about realtor-turned private investigator Ben Abbott, opens with the murder of Billy Tiller, a greedy developer determined to ruin the smalltown charm of Newbury with a string of tacky starter homes. When he is found dead â run over by a bulldozer â the police arrest a young environmental activist named Jeff Kimball.
Ira Levy, Kimballâs lawyer, asks Abbott to dig around. Abbott doesnât want to take the case â he despises everything Tiller stood for and worries that his loathing might hamper the investigation â but Levy twists his arm.
Abbott determines pretty speedily that Kimball could not have committed the crime, but figuring out who did is a bit trickier.
Copies of the book will be available, and Mr Scott will sign them for attendees.
