St Rose Holds Winter Food Drive
The St Rose of Lima Social Concerns Committee conducted its annual winter food drive just in time to help restock pantry shelves for the holidays. Parishioners brought donations after weekend Masses, and volunteers moved the food into the parish hall for sorting.
During the week, volunteers allocated the food among the social services organizations to which St Rose of Lima provides this support: the FAITH Food Pantry in Sandy Hook, and the Salvation Army food pantry at Newtown Social Services, St Charles Outreach Program, St Peterâs, Thomas Merton House, and the Daughters of Charity, in Bridgeport; Spooner House, in Derby/Shelton; Dorothy Day House, Shelter of the Cross Inc, and the Interfaith AIDS Ministry, in Danbury.
At the end of the week more volunteers came to the Parish Hall, loaded their vans, SUVs, and pickup trucks to deliver the bounty.
