Two-Day Christmas Festival In Woodbury

WOODBURY — Woodbury will host its annual Christmas Festival this weekend, with events planned for Friday evening and all day Saturday.

Main Street Woodbury will be all aglow when the holiday season begins on Friday, December 2, with a special music collaboration featuring the Connecticut Choral Society Chamber Singers and Naugatuck Valley Community College Gospel Choir at North Congregational Church. The concert, staring at 7:30 pm, will be a wonderful combination of music and styles guaranteed to put attendees in the holiday spirit.

The festivities continue on Saturday, December 3, with a day filled with events for all ages. Children will receive free express mail for all letters sent to the North Pole, and a return letter from Santa Claus. There will also be a visit from Santa between 1 and 3 pm, with gifts for children of all ages.

Focus on Christmas of yesteryear with a visit to Hurd House Museum and Glebe House Museum, with guides in period costumes leading tours of the historic properties.

There will be many other events including plant and wreath sales and special lunch opportunities throughout town, a tree lighting ceremony and community carol sing.

For those looking for unique shopping opportunities, Woodbury offers over 30 antiques shops with interesting stocking stuffers along with many other gift ideas (some shops open until 8 pm that evening) along with a craft fair featuring over 30 exhibitors held at the Woodbury Middle School and several church bazaars and boutiques.

Off street parking will be available in the parking lots behind Woodbury Public Library, at the Mitchell and Middle Schools and at North Congregational Church lots. Transportation between the various locations will be available via mini school bus.

The churches will have full event schedules available.
