Charter’s ‘Movies For Food’ Supports Local Food Banks

The sight of empty shelves at local food pantries is an all-to-often occurrence these days. As food banks find themselves serving more families in need than ever before, Charter Communications has created a way to collect donations: “Movies For Food” is a nationwide donation program created by Charter to help restock empty food pantry shelves.

Customers donating four nonperishable food items will receive an On Demand movie coupon, while customers donating eight or more nonperishable food items will receive two On Demand movie coupons.

Residents and Charter customers may visit any one of Charter’s offices throughout western and northeastern Connecticut to drop off the nonperishable food items; Newtown has an office at 9 Commerce Road. The Movies for Food program will continue to Saturday, December 31.

According to Heidi Vandenbrouck, Charter’s public relations/communications manager for New England, donations made in the Newtown area will benefit FAITH Food Pantry in Sandy Hook.

Charter is also conducting a sweepstakes. First prize is a 42-inch HDTV, a one-year subscription to Charter TV in Digital with HD, Internet Express (up to 12 MB), and Charter Phone with unlimited calling and wire maintenance; second prize is a one-year subscription to Charter TV in Digital with HD, one (1) HD box, Internet Express and Charter Phone; and a third prize, a gift card $100.
