Grief Seminar At St Vincent’s

BRIDGEPORT — St Vincent’s Pastoral Care Department is presenting a “Healing Grief Seminar” on Thursday, December 9, from 6 to 7:30 pm, in the Seton Room located on Level C of the Medical Center. The program is free and open to the general public.

The program is for people experiencing grief following the death of a loved one. According to Dennis McCann, director of pastoral care at St Vincent’s, the presentation describes the natural grieving experience, and offers resources and recommendations that might be helpful during a stressful time.

Professionally facilitated small support groups will begin to meet the week after the seminar and continue for seven consecutive weeks. “Opportunities are provided during the group sessions to explore and share one’s own unique grief journey,” according to Dr McCann. Support group size is limited.

Individuals may choose to attend the support group meetings later. However, no commitment to join the support group is necessary to attend the “Healing Grief” seminar. No registration is required. Free parking is available.

Dr McCann holds a doctorate in humanities and has extensive experience in helping people through the process of grief. He is also an adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University and has many years of experience facilitating groups.
