With a total of six ribbons — two for the club and four for individuals, as well as four honorable mentions — the Flagpole Photographers Camera Club celebrated great results following the New England Camera Club Council (NECCC) Fall 2015 Competitions.

The Fall 2015 Inter-Club Print Competition, hosted by Merrimack Valley Camera Club, was held on October 28 at Trinitarian Congregational Church in North Andover, Mass.

Flagpole placed first in Color with 101 points, and shared second place honors with Charter Oak Photographic Society in B&W Class A with 96 points.

Photos from Erik Landegren (second place in B&W Class A for “Soldiers of the Table”; honorable mention in Color for “Fire & Ice Cocktails”), Sue Bonacci (second place in B&W Class A for “Top of the World”), Rick Tyrseck (second place in B&W Class A for “Dunescape”), Rhonda Cullens, Doug Bilinski and Darrell Harrington were submitted on behalf of the club.

The Fall 2015 Electronic Inter-Club Competition, hosted by The Westfield Camera Club, was on November 9 at The Arbors in Westfield, Mass.

In that event, Erik Landegren’s “Portrait Under The Surface” received first place honors in Pictorial Class A, and “Canyon Sunrise” from Rick Tyrseck received honorable mention.

In Nature Class B, honorable mentions were given to “Adolescent Male Mallard Duckling” from Charles Batchelder and “Elk On Alpine Tundra” from Doug Bilinski.

Flagpole Photographers is a local non-profit group that enables members to share their images and expertise, to learn and grow in their photography, and to enjoy the camaraderie of fellow photographers. Members come from diverse backgrounds, with photographic skills ranging from beginning novices to professional photographers.

Anyone interested in photography, whether just starting out or someone who has been shooting photos for many years, can find a place within the club.

Holiday Gathering

The club will present its next program on Friday, December 11, at 6:30 pm, at its new meeting location: Newtown Senior Center, 14 Riverside Road.

The program will double as the club’s annual holiday gathering. Members will be entering photographs for the “Predominate Color” assignment which is the only competition that night and will be judged by the club members.

New members are always welcome to join the club. Dues are $35 per person or $55 for a family. Students may join at no charge.

On the fourth Thursday of every month, September through June, members compete in a different assigned subject, as well as in three additional categories: Open Digital, Open Color and Open Monochrome.

Assigned subjects and hands on activity programs are listed on the club’s website (flagpolephotographers.com). Photographs of the latest program night, “Long Exposures and Light Painting,” presented on October 8, are displayed online as well.
